You came to our Parish at a time of sorrow, And with you we
saw hope in tomorrow .
Fr. Fitz left before we could say good bye, But then your
presence took away our sigh.
Your brought a lot of faith and joy to the parish folks,
But Father John somethings gotta be done with those jokes.
Sometimes during Mass we didn’t know if you were saying
house or horse, But as we listen to the gospel we figured it
out of course.
Where you are going is very cold and far away,
We really wish there was some way you could stay.
When the parishioners started losing as you Blessed them at
Bingo, “ Father we don’t need a Blessing today” became the
new Lingo.
As
far as your cowboy days riding Fred the donkey and the
mechanical bull, You then became known as the Priest that
was cool.
We
hope you enjoyed the festivals and sampling the food,
And hopefully introducing you to frog and alligator wasn’t
to crude.
The Confirmation Retreats gave the teens hope and wishes,
Even though you couldn’t walk on water or multiply the
fishes.
You’ve enjoyed the parties and doing the mardi gras shake,
But never forgetting the Blessing before cutting the King
Cake.
We
say as a Parish “you’ve touched the hearts of us all”
And that “Fr. John, becoming a Priest, you’ve made the right
call”
We
close this poem trying not to shed tears,
Having hope that we will see you again throughout the years.
Good luck and God Bless, St. Theresa’s Parish
